Great history here. The people who run this now certainly care about the visitors and the history. This area is still undergoing some clean up from when the state owned, but worth the tour anyway. It's a shame that this will never be fully restored.
Stopped in on a whim while passing by. What a neat surprise. The underground tour of the mine was very interesting, turns out I didn't even know what chalk really was!
My daughter went on field trip there and loved it!
$5 20 minute tour of the mine. It was conducted by a woman who obviously cared a great deal about the mine & its history and was willing to go into a ton of detail.
Mine itself was full of fossils and interesting tidbits of history.
Awesome history lesson shame parents can control kids, shame the state is stupid and has to step in and control something they don't know anything about.
